Informed municipal commissioner Abhijit Bangar, “There is a need to control the use of oxygen in view of the shortage in the country. Taking into account the present oxygen need at CIDCO covid centre, 35 oxygen nurses have been deployed to work in 3 shifts in 7 wards, 4 of men and 3 women wards.”
Stated Bangar, “Those deployed have been adequately trained. They will check the oxygen levels of the patients and a keep a record of it. They will also control the oxygen supply as per the need of the patients.”
He added, “The nurses will stop the oxygen supply during the time the patients have meals or go to answer nature’s call as they will not have the oxygen masks on them at the time. The nurses will start them immediately afterwards. They have been asked to strictly follow the routine and keep a note of when the oxygen is stopped and started.”
Concluded Bangar, “These oxygen nurses will turn out to be oxygen angels in the current situation when there is a huge demand for it.”
